WHY DO I NOT DOWSE ON A SANDY BEACH?

A  purely sandy beach has not been chosen as our location for dowsing lessons because there is no geological evidence (rocks or rock outcrops) to show the correlation of the dowsing rod's movement to geological faults and dykes/dikes.
